BANGALORE, July 20: The death toll from the deadly Covid-19 epidemic is on the rise in Bengaluru’s urban areas. The dead bodies of the Muslim community should be cremated in accordance with the guidelines, said a Bengaluru city Northern District District Waqf official in a statement.
Against this backdrop, the Waqf Registered or Unregistered Khabastanas Administrative Committees / Mutavallis / Jurisdictions in Bangalore City District Administrators should not prevent the burial of Muslims who have died of the Covid pandemic, and should undertake a decent burial with the help of nodal authorities appointed for the purpose. Disobedience or rejection by representatives of the governing bodies of the Khabastanas will be deemed an insult to the deceased.
Violation of the ordinance is punishable under the provisions of the Indian Penal Code and is subject to removal by the governing body under the provisions of the Waqf Act, 1995.
He said in the publication that appropriate action should be taken to comply with the orders of the governing bodies of the respective treasury, not to provide any kind of provision for the matter.
